Reading geologic time in Paleozoic sedimentary rocks

This post is a little different, it does not present a research article but it presents a research project I am leading. IGCP projects are projects funded by UNESCO and the International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS)

IGCP projects aim to mobilize global cooperation in the field of earth sciences. This Program is a platform for scientists from around the world to push the boundaries of knowledge through concrete projects.

Our project IGCP-652 is about improving the geologic time scale through different techniques, such as cyclostratigraphy and the use of radioisotopes. We focus on the period between the Ordovician and the Carboniferous (period extending from 485 to 300 million years).
